Release Announcement of Impact 2010

Posted: Friday 7 May 2010

Marple, United Kingdom (May 7, 2010)

When it comes to designing for packaging manufacture, in today’s competitive market place there is no better CAD software for your business than Impact from Arden Software. Impact 2010, the latest release of this world leader in packaging structural design and manufacturing applications, builds on an unrivalled capacity to simultaneously deliver best in class design and manufacturing features with seamless connectivity between Impact’s own fully integrated database and your MIS or ERP system.

In Impact 2010, the Impact database takes yet another leap ahead of its competition with the introduction of integrated customer contact support that extends the unique and powerful business integration capabilities of both Impact and WEBcnx.   Impact's site management tools have also been expanded to allow users to manage centralised design resources more effectively across an organisation. These enhancements, combined with significant WAN performance streamlining, continue to enhance Impact’s position as the only database driven packaging design software available.

Of course, Impact is also world renowned for the breadth and quality of its design and manufacturing features and Impact 2010 contains a number of key new developments that improve design presentation and increase design and manufacturing efficiency.

Impact 2010 features Arden Software’s new 3D TruView technology, which enables users to produce 3D packaging prototypes realistic enough to touch.  3D TruView supports a range of special finishes including foiling, embossing and debossing, Braille and true board textures.  Impact 3D TruView is an extension to the existing 3D Creator feature and available free of charge to users upgrading their Impact Designer licences.

A new 3D Trim tool enables designers to do more designing in the 3D environment and is perfect for creating fast and accurate apertures around products for use in packaging fitments and foam packing and works superbly around the selected extents of imported 3D objects.

The new 3D Trim tool in Impact 2010

As an industry specialist, Arden Software fully appreciates the growing desire of companies to reduce their carbon footprint by applying more intelligent design ideas in the drive for greater sustainability. In Impact 2010 we have introduced a number of enhancements to the Layout Creator feature, such as the Layout Trim tool, which help users to maximise on-press efficiency through optimum sheet utilisation, whilst simultaneously reducing the amount of material used and waste generated.

Finally, Impact’s reputation for possessing the packaging industry’s most versatile, productive and automated manufacturing features is further enhanced by a new steel cutting feature, which elevates the control of the steel cutting process to completely new levels.
